Xylose Lysine Desoxycholate Agar (XLD Agar) is a selective growth medium used in microbiology to isolate and differentiate enteric pathogens such as Salmonella and Shigella species. It contains xylose as a fermentable carbohydrate, lysine and deoxycholate as inhibitors, and indicators for detecting hydrogen sulfide production.
