Mannitol Salt Agar (Pharmacopoeia) is a specialized microbiological growth medium used for the selective isolation and identification of pathogenic Staphylococcus species, particularly Staphylococcus aureus. It contains mannitol as a fermentable carbohydrate and a high salt concentration, inhibiting the growth of most other bacteria. This agar is commonly used in clinical and food microbiology for the detection of Staphylococcus aureus.
