TSI agar is a specialized microbiological medium used to differentiate enteric bacteria based on their ability to ferment sugars and produce hydrogen sulfide. It contains three different sugars (glucose, lactose, and sucrose) and iron salts, allowing for the detection of various metabolic reactions.
