// APPLICATION EXAMPLE

PREPARATION AND DISPERSION OF MAXIGELLUN GUM GUM IN CROPS.

PLANT TISSUE CULTURE

The use of MaxiGellan Gum in plant tissue culture has opened up new possibilities for plant propagation, crop improvement and the production of genetically modified plants.

  1. Dissolve 2-5g of MaxiGellan Gum in 1L of cold water.
  2. Heat at 85°C for 10-15 min or boil at 100°C for 5-10 min.
  3. Add the culture medium (MS, etc.), mix and pour into the culture vessel.
  4. Allow to cool until a clear gel forms.
  5. Sterilize in autoclave.
  6. Place the seed/seedling/explant in the gel and follow the growth protocol.

Microbial cell culture

The use of MaxiGellan Gum in microbial cell culture has enabled significant advances in the research and development of microbiological products, from antibiotic production to fermentation and biotechnology.

  1. Dissolve 10g of MaxiGellan Gum in 1L of cold water.
  2. Heat at 85°C for 15-20 min or boil at 100°C for 10-15 min.
  3. Add culture medium (LB, NB, etc.) and a divalent cation up to 5 mM.
  4. Pour into the culture vessel.
  5. Sterilize in autoclave.
  6. Transfer the inoculum to the gel and follow the growth protocol.

// KNOWLEDGE

acerca de gellan gum

Gellan gum, a polysaccharide produced by the bacterium Sphingomonas Elodea, has revolutionized the food industry and biotechnology. From its use in beverage stabilization to its role in plant tissue culture, this versatile additive has proven to be an invaluable tool.

  • What is the Gellam Gun?

    Gellan gum is a polysaccharide produced by the bacterium Sphingomonas Elodea through the fermentation of glucose. It is widely used in plant tissue culture due to its ability to form a gel matrix that provides physical support to plant tissues during micropropagation.

  • How is it obteined?

    Gellan gum is obtained by incubating the bacteria Sphingomonas Elodea in a culture medium. During fermentation, the bacteria produce an exudate. This exudate is then separated from the bacteria and the rest of the culture components. Finally, it is dried to obtain the powdered product.

  • Where is it used?

    In addition to its use in the stabilization of dairy, microalgae and vegetable beverages and as a gelling agent in bakeable desserts and fillings, gellan gum has an important role in plant tissue culture. Its gel structure provides a physical support for the growth and development of plant cells and tissues in vitro. Furthermore, its transparency allows for light microscopic analysis of the tissues or cells, which is a challenge with other gelling agents such as agar. It is also used in molecular cuisine due to its film-forming properties.
